Autumn By Ashlee
Autumn looks like a rainbow of colourful leaves. Frost on my car window from Jackfrost. Hot milos in the afternoom. Crunchy leaves under my bike wheels and car wheels. Leaves falling all around town like rain of yellow and orange and red. Bright orange pumpkins growing in the garden with carrots and the onions.
Autumn Poem
I hear my boots crunching the crunching leaves. I see leaves as red as blood. I see leaves as orange as oranges. I see leaves slowly drifting through the air. I feel the cold frosty breeze blowing me.

Autumn Poems
Autumn poem
It is autumn
I smell fresh cold air in the morning breeze. I see trees with crinkling leaves. Autumn looks like red, orange, yellow leaves. it sounds like icy leaves under my wet soggy boots. I hear birds tweeting along the trees.

Room 5 Writing
Room 5 had to choose an adjective that you could use to describe someone and then a food, an animal, a plant and an object to represent it. They then turned their planning into fantastic 'If I were' poems. See if you can identify which of the poems below are about being lazy, kind, tickly and loving.
If I were …
If I were …
If I were …
If I were …
If I were …
If I were a strawberry, I would be growing in the wild.
If I were a kitten, I would be sleeping in a warm fuzzy bed.
If I were a daisy, I would be sitting in the sun.
If I were a teddy bear, I would be playing with my owner.
By Jack R
If I were …
If I were popcorn, I would dance in the moonlight.
If I were Daisy the cat, I would be loved and patted by my owner.
If I were a puppy, I’d dance in the rain.
If I were a wind scraper, I would be as big as I can be.
By Caitlin
If I were …
If I were a bowl of ice cream, I would melt in the sun.
If I were a puppy, I would snuggle my owner.
If I were a daisy I would sway in the wind.
If I were a diamond, I would shine in the light.
By Tasmin
If I were …
If I were popping candy, I would bounce in a mouth.
If I were a rat, I would run up pants.
If I were a piece of hay I’d scratch people.
If I were a feather, I’d help a bird fly.
By Jamie
If I were …
If I were chips, I would stay in my packet.
If I were a cat, I would lie in the sun.
If I were a tree, I would grow very slowly.
If I were a couch, I would watch tv all day.

Celebrating Ireland today
Room 5 enjoyed singing and doing a bit of a jig to two great Irish songs - The Rattlin Bog and Irish Music.
We were very impressed by the fast moves of the dancers in 'Riverdance'. This version is a little bit different to the one we watched today. It's particularly impressive at about four minutes when there is a long line of dancers together.
We have been learning how to research various species of spiders after reading the story 'Charlotte's Web', so today we all researched one thing about Ireland.
We found out that:
Dublin is the capital city
The flag is green, white and orange
The population is about 4.75 million (similar to NZ)
They like to eat black pudding (blood sausage)
They are good at sports like Gaelic football, rugby and horse racing
A leprechaun is a mischievous elf like creature who reveals where treasure is hidden
The odds of finding a 4 leaf clover are 1:10,000 3 leaf ones
and much more ...
This is the Irish folk story that we enjoyed with our little Room 3 buddies today.
